Endlessly behind or under pressure?
Confused or overwhelmed by how or where to focus your attention?…
on yourself or others?
Not as confident as you know you could be, or spending too much time
overthinking or doubting yourself?
Beginning to understand what all the talk of burnout and imposter syndrome might be about?
Hi there, I’m Dr. Melanie Heto.
I remember a time when I could not imagine finding the energy, much less the time or money, to make a big change in my life and my work. I mean, I knew I loved the potential that psychology has to offer the world, but I felt like I was shouldering an overwhelming burden. Looking around, others seemed to be doing it, so I thought maybe I just needed to keep pushing, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of constant pressure and the pursuit of achievement even if it didn’t feel great anymore. I had to realize I was caught in the autopilot of going and doing. Stress had become the norm, even in my nervous system. I needed a reset. And it ultimately didn’t mean burning down everything I had accomplished.
It really is true that slowing down gets more done. This will blow your mind when you give it a real chance.
Leading from the self is not selfish: filling your own cup allows you to pour into others’.
Self-care, work-life balance, true leadership, and presence and connection with ourselves and others are not strategies. They are lifestyles and must be practiced with regularity to be experienced.
Joy is not an attainment. It is a state of mind that we must slow down enough to let through.
Practicing a short-term strategy in the long run is a recipe for burnout.

So glad you asked! I believe in teaching people how psychology can be actively used to live a more fun, peaceful, and fulfilling life. I will teach you about psychological concepts relevant to you, provide support and guidance in applying these tools to your life, and help you detect and let go of stubborn emotional blocks toward your goals. My methods are neuroscience-driven and my primary approaches are informed by ISTDP, a mindfulness and somatic focus, and systems theory.
I am in-network with Aetna, or I can provide documentation for patients whose insurance allows out-of-network reimbursement benefits.
I charge $195 per 53-minute session. You have a right to a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost, which I will provide after some initial consultation.
Coaching and therapy are different interventions that depend on several factors. Together, we’ll determine whether therapy or coaching is the best fit for you.
