What should I Expect in a Psychological Evaluation?
A psychological evaluation consists of several stages. The first is to gather as much information as possible about the questions that you hope an evaluation will address. These questions should be as specific as possible. Evaluations often consist of more than one appointment and can last a few hours. An evaluation consists of an intensive clinical interview and the administration of psychological measures – which can be administered by Dr. Heto or completed by the patient. Dr. Heto will then score and interpret the measures, write a comprehensive report, and then provide a feedback session of the results.
Insurance
Dr. Heto does not participate as an in-network provider to insurance companies. However, due to recent mental health parity laws, mental health treatment is equitably reimbursable by your insurance company. Dr. Heto will provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for compensation. Payment is expected at the time of service.
Duration/Length of Therapy
Therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes. Frequently, for your first visit, Dr. Heto will request meeting for a double session, so that you can get to know one another and dig into some history and goal-planning. Therapy can be short-term or long-term, depending on your goals and the urgency of your situation. Some matters can be resolved rather quickly and others require more attention. During your first session, you will discuss your therapeutic needs and your wishes for therapy duration, and you’ll be given an understanding of how much work may be involved. Exact lengths of therapy cannot be predicted, especially as therapy goals evolve with your changing needs.
